Matthew von Behrens has been a student and practitioner of
the spiritual guidance found in the Cayce readings and "Search for God"
materials since 1989.
As a child, he was fascinated by ancient civilizations,
especially ancient Egypt. As a teen, just for fun (!) he practiced forming the
symbols and letters of ancient languages - hieroglyphics, cuneiform, ancient
Hebrew, Greek.
When first learning to meditate in 1989 he was very drawn
to the music of the harp, and in 1999, a mystical experience while in meditation
led him to take up playing the harp himself and volunteering with it in
hospitals and nursing homes. Playing the harp eventually led to him leaving
behind his old career as an engineer with the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. to
begin training in 2009 to become a hospital chaplain, which is what he does
today for the University of Vermont Medical Center's Porter Hospital in
Middlebury, Vermont - playing the harp for those taking their first breaths in
the birthing center as they enter this world, as well as for those taking their
final breaths as they leave this world.
